Fighting for true Hip Hop, the Westronauts come from Long Beach to take you in a different direction. A direction that deals with three different styles of emcee’s that come together to make Hip Hop Harmony. The Westronauts are here to put some realness back into the game. Westro music has something for everyone. Songs that have a message to motivate body and soul. The Westonauts let you see all side of this Hip Hop triangle while still representing from the Coast that raised these emcee’s.
Long Beach has yet to see a group like this come from their roots so deep. They will wonder where did C.I.M focus, Serendipity and Space Vers come from. Their name must be right, they must be from another planet, because you ain’t heard nothing like this come from the West Coast in a while. C.I.M focus which stands for “Christ Is My Focus†heads this 280i camp that has been together since 1999. This educated emcee rips the microphone with thought provoking messages that speak to most people in a struggle. Then you have the gifted lyricist Serendipity with rhymes that will keep your head spinning and wondering where did he get his flow from. Space Vers keeps it all at ground level, street, that is when giving you his gift. This emcee’s conscious and hard core flow along with his track producing skills on the album finish this group up to be a lasting force in West Coast and Hip Hop History.
In 2001, under the original name Eternal Eruption, the group released the EP “Let it Flow†under their independent label 280i. This was their first recording together, ever, so the album was raw and unpolished. With tracks like “Kill em allâ€, “Hotâ€, and “Space Dip†these emcees came with a political street flow that invited you to get a message from the streets while also giving you a lesson about who they are individually. “ We was on the Blue Line for five months straight doin’ self promotion, just so cats could know who we were â€, says focus.
In 2003, Space Vers and emcee Sensimilla formed tha Westronauts. Childhood friends and former members of Undaground Movement, the two recorded “Blow Sick Muzikâ€, while Vers remained an active part of Eternal Eruption. After the sudden and senseless murder of Sensimilla in 2003 , the group felt that it was only right for them to let the group name live on. Now known as Tha Westronauts, a lot has changed with these men. “The new LP Cosmic California†stands far apart from the first EP. The collection of songs on this album has something for everyone. The lead track “Comin’ Thru†is a raw up-tempo track that introduces each emcee properly, while also spotlighting the groups arrival as a whole. When asking the question if “Hip-Hop is dead?,†the Westro’s have the answer with a hard hitting track that will erase all if any doubts in your mind about the survival of Hip Hop. Showing a laid back, sexier side, the group comes with “Wet Sexâ€, a song for the lover in you. The group can’t talk about sex without getting a little nasty, and that’s where “freaky girls†come in. This dirty south style song gives you an idea of what type of women these emcee’s want in the bedroom. The group gets inside your head on “Clocks Tickin,â€were C.I.M. focus gives some thought provoking spoken word. Soul singer Blackbird also highlights the track beautifully on the chorus. She also lends her vocals to “She’s a pimpâ€, and to the for sure club hit “Do Itâ€. tha Westronauts just keep coming at you track after track, hitting you from all sides of the Hip Hop spectrum.
“This album has tighter beats and tighter flows, it’s a growth project for us,†says Space Vers. We want you to know that real Hip Hop has and always will be a part of the West Coast.
They are here to represent just that. C.I.M. focus adds, “We are just three guys from where the turf meets the surf on a search for that honest dollar.†“We wanna revive those Cali Hip Hop crews like the Pharcyde and The Hieroglyphics†says Serendipity. real editor best profile tools real editor best profile tools
