From the begginning God touched my soul and put this music in my blood thank you Jesus, I was introduced to the motown sound by my mother and was blown away by that era of music so passionate and real. My mom had a huge record collction that varied from Tha Commodores and Rolls Royce to Paul Anka and The Carpenters which i think helped make me a well rounded musician and writer, eventhough i was exposed to Motown i would have to say i was influenced most by the culture and musical movement of hip-hop, my mom grew up on motown i grew up on def jam(foreal). My first group was a rap group called south side posse which is how i learned to write raps, i had been writing songs since i was about 4 or 5, but with this hip-hop thing i was on another level, i rented a alesis beat machine(the gray one) and thats how i learned to make beats and i was good at it. But by the time i graduated from high school i was in a popular R&B group called So-Smooth and we were discovered by Reggie&Cino Calloway founding members of the group MidnightStar(freakazoid,No parking on the dance floor). I credit these two genuises with teaching me how to Produce a hit record Reggie wrote Gerald Levert's smash hit Cassanova which is still a classic 20yrs.later,(R.I.P. Gerald) Later on i found myself in New York with another group called Alaye we would eventually be blessed to work with rap icon Heavy D. he introduced us to many celebrities and i got my first taste of the industry life, at one session he even invited Laurence Fishbourne to check us out. As my music career moved on i was introduced to DJ Enuff who heard my talent and took me to an A&R at Def Jam named Jo Jo Brimm he loved my production and writing skills and enlisted me and my crew into his production camp called The Burn Unit this is where i learned and saw everything about the bussiness of making music from A toZ i saw how Def Jam signed and dropped artist, how they found super stars and super hits how they built sub labels-Rocafella-into a dynasty this was Music Industry school 4 me. Through my travels i have worked with many artist famous and unfamous and now am trying to build an empire of my own along with verdict and travio records, i wanna b the nxt Berry Gordy. I am not a beat maker i am a complete producer like in the tradition of Quincy and i hope i can breathe some much needed life into music. Recently i have founded Streetlk Movement a vehicle for unsigned artist that will give them a spotlight, follow the movement until then catch me at church singin Donnie McClurkin's stand now that's real.
