Born in Pennsylvania's capital city of Harrisburg in 1985, Justin Barnes a.k.a. YOUNG CREAM is bringing a breath of fresh air to a dwindling hip-hop scene. Most People who meet YC for the first time would describe him as a trendy young artist with an old soul and a high level of maturity for his age. " After I was introduced to hip hop in the early 90's by the likes of Nas, Method Man and people like BIG and PAC...The first thing I did was go back and try to find out more about the culture and its many influences." This curiosity is what provided YC with a very eclectic musical taste and a broader understanding of the cultural significance of hip-hop. As a teenager he spent a lot of time listening to Gill Scott Heron, Marvin Gay and even classical music despite ridicule from his neighborhood friends. " People used to clown me because of the types of music I listened to.... But for me it was like.... Wow! I can't believe they don't like this song.'' After getting a good response following a couple talent show performances, YC decided to take a huge step in order to take his craft to the next level. In February of 2003 he started GV Entertainment along with four other members from the area. GV Entertainment went on to do over thirty shows in Harrisburg, York, Lancaster, Baltimore, Virginia and Atlanta. Along the way YC had the opportunity to open up for platinum artists like Chris Brown, Young Jeezy, Cassidy, The Outlaws and the Young Guns. "The highlight of the performances was the joint we did in Baltimore at Coppin State...We headlined the whole show in front of like 2000 students and they loved it...that's when I knew we had what it took to be successful....'' Along with all the live performances and the demand of operating a small business YC has still found the time and energy to generate an extensive catalog of music. He's been featured on over twenty projects since GV started in 2003. His latest project Its My Turn the album, scheduled for release summer 2007, is one of the most anticipated albums on the underground hip hop scene.
