In Memory of Johnny Cunningham
August 27, 1957 - December 15, 2003
Musician, composer, producer, raconteur*, and all-around great guy. A brilliant fiddle player, one of the best.
Johnny's legacy is an abundance of music ranging from fast & furious to light & joyous to heartbreakingly tender.
In addition to his own recordings and collaborations, he also helped many other artists to find their identities and best sounds.
Johnny lives on through his music and the influence he had on the music and lives of others.
"Johnny stories" abound among his friends, and he made friends everywhere he went.
Post your "Johnny story" in the "Comments" section below!
*Journalist Earl Hitchner recalled: "About five years ago at the Turning Point in Piermont, N.Y., he and button accordionist Joe Derrane gave their only concert as a duo. Introducing Johnny, who performed first, I summarized some of his talents, including that of raconteur. When Johnny took the stage, he feigned confusion. 'Raconteur? What's that? Some sort of gardening implement?'"
