About Me
Women’s HipHop Collective
Real Women Rep.ing for the Real HipHop
Organizing for the purpose to take HipHop back from where she has strayed. Bringing it back to the HipHop we know, love, respect, and live.
We are doing this for the babies, our future. As the First teachers of the children we have to take on this task with full force, because what they are getting from the Radio, TV and other major media outlets is not the HipHop we grew up on or actively listen today.
Our mutual desire is to bring about a positive change within HipHop and the community that supports it. As women we are mother's (physically, mentally, or both) because we are the first teachers of the children it’s our duty to do so, because they learn from us first and foremost. As women in HipHop when we represent HipHop correctly, we are able to instill it in our seeds correctly, so that they not only want to represent the real HipHop, but they do it correctly.
By coming together to create a Women’s HipHop Collective, not only do we create a support system for ourselves to build on the culture and to represent the culture, but also to link our stories and link our seeds, not just for ourselves but for their future. This will bring about the positive changes we want to see now and in the future for HipHop. This is not a selfish move for us as women, it is a move to build something for the children, and for the future we want for HipHop.
Another purpose of a Women’s HipHop Collective is to be able to create events specifically for women and children, so that women can build on positive changes that can be brought about by collectively striving to do programs not just for women but for the youth and utilized hip hop as a tool to empower them. (women and youth)
The positive thing with HipHop is it inspires and motivates the youth when it’s being done properly towards a self awareness, community awareness, political consciousness, social justice, and basically the world around them. It also inspires knowledge of self when it’s utilized properly as the vehicle of information it is. I know it inspired a great change in my life and it’s what led me to knowledge of self.
If we utilize the 4 elements of hip hop, graffiti (art), b-girl ing (dance), mc’ing (literacy), DJ’ing (mathematics). Use these as skills and crafts that can open up the youth and help them improve their lives mentally and physically. That’s the purpose of a Women’s HipHop collective so that we can come together as the strong women we are to inspire the youth and bring about change within themselves and community.
PEACE!
