ANIA KUCZYNSKA

Over the past five years, Ania Kuczynska has made a name for herself as one of the most promising fashion designers in Poland. Having studied first in Rome (KOEFIA), then in Paris (ESMOD), she returned to Poland, where she soon developed her celebrated trademark look – best described as „ornate minimalism“.
Severe in cut, often unfinished, yet always feminine and sensual, Ania Kuczynska became a favourite of the press and clients alike. The presentation of her work is just as important to her as the clothes them self. Her reputation ensures that the most sought-after photographers and artists are eager to collaborate with her on promotional albums, films, and other forms of presentation.
Kuczynska is now set to expand into the rest of Europe. She has also met with great enthusiasm in Japan, where her collections have been available in several Tokyo boutiques for the past three seasons. She regularly takes part in fashion fairs in Paris and Milan, and is steadily building a customer base there.
UEG is the brainchild of the Polish duo Ania Kuczynska and Michal Lojewski, one of the country’s top graphic designers and founding member of White Cat Studio.
UEG is a project designed to play on the concept of consumption, using the language of symbols and icons to remind the wearer of the inconsistency of today’s existence, how everything literally washes off of us. The name „Usa e Getta“, in italian means „use and throw away“. It is this premise of desirable objects designed to deteriorate that drives the whole project.

For ABSOLUT LABEL 2006 Ania Kuczynska has made a pair of late 19th-century-style silk bloomers, with the ABSOLUT bottle making an appearance on the waistband, in one of the simplest but most elegant pieces of the collection.
