About Me

i was in the post-punk/psychedlic/electro rockers LIVE SEX. i was one of the BEINGS. i was in BRAHMA CHOP. we made records and nobody bought them. i tried to give up, but it is an addiction, a condition of being. now i have to play the guitar MYSELF! what a comedown. i have swum in music like the ocean.... there is so much that is good! there is so much more that is woeful, dreadful and foul.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: peterpick.com
Band Members: there is only me. i used to play the saxophone. i have played with many talented and creative musicians and generally wasted their time. now i sometimes get RICHARD MILES (undermotherbungalow) to add bits of unfeasibly sustained guitar, and DAVE TRIBE is good enough to play bass if i ask him. but mostly i don't.
Influences: as bob dylan once said, everything influences you, good and bad. formative influences include syd barrett, david bowie, roy harper, jean 'bosco' mwenda, t. rex, the doors, king crimson, captain beefheart and the magic band. people i felt contemporary with would include talking heads, gang of four, pigbag, blurt, buzzcocks, the fall. artists i came to admire and even wished to emulate or incorporate elements of include miles davis, pharoah sanders, can, the velvet underground, james brown, john lee hooker. now i try to write songs and play them all by myself.
Sounds Like: itself. vile experimentalist ugly pop by demented fabulists. uneasy listening. between the defill and debussy. i rock and a hard place. sounds like a fucking racket unless you tune your mind. i have loved and do love syd barrett, captain beefheart, miles davis, john coltrane, pharoah sanders, gillian welch, juana molina, randy newman, can, the velvet underground, otis redding, aretha franklin, robert johnson, muddy waters, john lee hooker, john martyn, nick drake, james brown, ska, soukous, kwela, free jazz, improvised music, sax jive (mbaqanga), stax and chess. vocal harmonies, funky rhythms, emotional commitment, taste, grace and truth.
