About Me

East Nashville’s Wednesday Night Old Time Jam provides enthusiasts of traditional, acoustic-based roots music the opportunity

East Nashville ’s Wednesday Night Old Time Jam provides enthusiasts of traditional, acoustic-based roots music the opportunity to regularly meet, share tunes, dance, swap stories, and bond together in general camaraderie.

Old-time music is oft considered as the forbearer of bluegrass music. In fact, much of the old time repertoire dates far back in American, British and Irish history. The music is rhythmic in nature and is structured around relatively basic, repetitive melodies. Instrumentation primarily consists of fiddle, banjo and guitar, though dobro, mandolin, bass, ukulele, washboard and spoon players often “chime” in. The Wednesday Night Old Time Jam is free and open to the public- for both musicians and non-musicians. All musicians are encouraged to participate (regardless of experience) and all non-musicians are encouraged to come out, enjoy the music, play checkers and join in the fellowship.

The 5 Spot, our gracious host of this event, discounts all beers by $1 on Wednesday Nights. Oh yeah- they make one heck of a sandwich too!

Sounds Like: “The music, while usually minor, is not of a plaintive tendency

“It is reflective, meditative; the tunes chuckle, not merrily, but in amused contemplation…”:
