The story so far…
The group was formed in 2003 in Timisoara (Romania). The name of the band was inspired by Ingmar Bergman’s movie “Personaâ€. The members of Persona belong to the new generation of Romanian musicians that bloomed after the anticommunist revolution of December 1989 and they all have been involved in the music scene since then, playing in several bands before forming Persona. In early 2004, Persona had had their first concerts, being enthusiastically received by the public and the local media, which quickly labeled them as “the Brit band of Timisoaraâ€. In autumn of 2004, Persona had recorded the first 2 demo songs – Home in the Arms and Computer Breakdown which were aired at the local radios. Following that year, they were invited by TVR (Romanian public television channel) to film a live video for “Murderâ€. In 2007, Persona had entered the studio again and recorded 2 new songs – A Ride on Love Street and Momentary Lack of Passion – very appreciated by the public. In 2008, Persona continued to tour Romania’s major cities and festivals, sharing the stage with bands such as dEUS (B), Kultur Shock (USA), Air Traffic (UK), Trash Fashion (UK) and Robots in Disguise (UK). 2009 started well for Persona – Momentary Lack of Passion has reached no 1 position in Romanian Top at CityFM Radio. Also Persona was interviewed by PRO TV (Romanian commercial television) for Apropo TV, a show promoting bands from the indie scene and chosen as the best band by its viewers with over 15000 votes cast on Internet. 2009 means also, the first concert outside Romania, in the famous Budapest club A38, together with Urma and Kumm from Romania and Jacked and The Hated Tomorrow from Hungary, concert dedicated to the memory of Marian Cozma. In July, PERSONA played at B’estfest (Romania’s biggest festival), sharing the same stage with bands like The Charlatans, Looptroop Rockers, The Ting Tings and Santana. Their debut album “Suburbia Afterlife†will be released in the beginning of 2010. The band’s music is, indeed, one of British influence but cannot be strictly labeled – the musical background and influences of each of the members, refined by the experience and artistic maturity blend together in the PERSONA genre.LATEST PICS
