About Me

The project began in December 2005 with the release of a 4 track CD, From Bethlehem to Bangor. This first release contained 2 tracks recorded in Bethlehem, Palestine, by Gwilym Morus, and featured Mohamed Najem on clarinet and nye and Waseem Qassis on oud and percussion; the other two tracks on the CD were remixes of the original material by Luke Evans. This first CD was sold as a fundraiser and helped to attract media attention in Wales. During the spring of 2006, Gwilym returned to Palestine with an S4C film crew and made a special arts documentary on the project, broadcast later that May.During March of this year, the group made a short tour of Wales, visiting Cardiff, Aberystwyth, Caernarfon and Bangor. All were well attended gigs, with great responses from the audiences. The line up consisted of Gwilym, Luke and Mohamed, with Tariq Rantissi taking the place of Waseem Qassis. The set was based on a backing track of material preprepared by Luke and Gwilym at their studio, but also included purely improvised material. All the perfomances were recorded onto 8 track tape, and from these recordings we are putting together an album, of which these three tracks are a sample. Also, the improvisations from the gig at the Galeri theatre, Caernarfon have been put together to make an accompanying short album, available soon as a download from gwilymmorus.com
