I grew up in both a small rural area in India and in a large city in the United States. I guess, you can take the girl out of the village, but you never really take the village out of the girl. In many ways I am very independent and assertive, but then my values and beliefs can be traditionally and fundamentally Indian. My Indian upbringing probably makes me very focused and grounded regarding who I am. Yet, growing up in California, how can you take yourself too seriously?! I spend most of my days trying not to make an ass of myself... It's pretty much a full-time job!
