From Kutztown University Alumni News... "Since graduating in 2004, former KU Homecoming King, Andrew Rose, has been a “quintessential starving actor” in Phoenix, Arizona.Rose made the move to Arizona shortly after receiving his degree in Business Marketing and Management. “I decided to move there simply for a change,” he explains. “Growing up in Hamburg and then going to KU, I only knew of this area. I was ready for something different.”This adventurous spirit led Rose to pursue a completely new career six months after settling into his new city. He took acting and voiceover classes, and eventually landed his first lead role in the full-length independent drama “Yesterday’s Tomorrow.”“I wouldn't necessarily say [acting] was a dream of mine growing up, but I spent a lot of time in front of the TV when I was a kid and have always been the center of attention. Through college my fellow Golden Bears always encouraged me to get into acting.”Besides “Yesterday’s Tomorrow,” Rose did local commercials, print work, student films and a variety of productions all filmed in the Phoenix area, including four independent horror films. Last year, he landed a role as a ‘featured extra’ in the upcoming comedy “Kids in America” starring That 70’s Show star Topher Grace.Although he considers his time in Arizona well spent, Rose returned to Pennsylvania this past December to enjoy some of the things he’s missed, like green grass and cooler weather, and to launch the next phase of his career.Currently, he’s auditioning in the area and shopping for an agent in Philadelphia. He also spends time in New York City, researching agencies and doing NYU student films. When asked what he would like to be doing in five years, Rose had plenty of ideas.“I want to be living in New York City or Los Angeles and using my talents on a daily basis. I would love to be doing film and some theater. I would also really like to train with some acting coaches in New York and bring that to this area. This might be more of a ten year plan, but I would really like to bring my experiences to Pennsylvania and start coaching in a studio near Philly or Reading.”..
