Heine Totland has since 1995 been a professional artist, living in Oslo, having many strings to his bow. With his classical background, he was one of the initiators of the male vocal group Gli Scapoli, and has featured in several prominent productions, like: STATE, Gli Scapoli, Silje Nergaard, the musical “Sophie’s Worldâ€, Køhn/Johansen Sextet etc. In addition to working with nearly every established, well known artist in Norway, Heine has played the leading parts in a number of musicals: Twice as Judas, twice as Jesus in “Jesus Christ Superstarâ€, as Marius in a highly successful staging of “Les Miserablesâ€, and The American in Chess. The Norwegian audience has absolutely embraced the all round entertainer, and over the recent two years, Heine has become one of the most popular sought for singers in Norway, actively performing all over the country, as well as abroad.
Heine has had several large appearances over the last years, among them the official TV show celebrating Norway’s 100 years anniversary in 2005, different TV galla shows, he performed in Angola, Dubai, at the outdoor 100th anniversary celebration of Hydro in Oslo, and at the Royal Castle.
Heine released his first solo album in November 2005, “Tough Times for Gentlemen†(SonyBMG), his charming, smooth voice shooting straight into the Norwegian Top20 pop charts. Together with a bouquet of the best songwriters in the country (Hans Petter Aaserud, Silje Nergaard, Geir Luedy, Sigurd Køhn etc), he has composed ten original songs, tastefully arranged for brass and strings and with a sure touch balancing between jazz and pop. The album is produced by Geir Luedy and Hans Petter Aaserud.
“Tough Times for Gentlemen†was released in Germany in 2007 to great reviews in magazines like Stern and Der Spiegel.
Nowadays Heine is touring sold out theaters in a duo-concert with Gisle Børge Styve. Reviews are raving.
He will release his 2nd solo album early 2009.
In 2009 Heine will starr as Harry in Mamma Mia! Norways biggest musicalshow ever!
