Nestled between a flower shop and a vacant lot on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles county the Thunderbird Motel didn't look like much. A denizen of the Hells Angels and degenerate thugs alike, it's dirty walls witnessed debauchery and violence on a nightly basis before being shut down for good in the summer of 1972 after the body of aspiring actress, Veronica Mission was found in room 27. The cryptic words "lions will eat us." written in her blood on the wall. Police nick-named her the "Red Angel" partly because of the innocence of her features and also because of the blood pattern on the white sheets giving the impression of wings. Veronicas' death gained infamy because of her rumored relationship with guitarist/songwriter Graham Parsons. Because of her slashed wrists, her death was at first ruled a suicide. But an autopsy revealed enough barbiturates' to kill a person twice Veronicas size and the wounds to her wrists were post mortem. No one was ever charged with the crime.
