While growing up, his father, Carlos Smith, would spend time recording songs for himself and his duet with Raw Dawg’s uncle, Morris. The recording sessions would be performed in the basement of their house. Raw Dawg picked up quickly on what his father and uncle were doing. Raw Dawg’s father soon brought him in once he was old enough to be in the studio. Dawg’s love for music was heightened immediately. In 1992, Raw Dawg’s family moved from the Northeast to the Sunshine State. While in Miramar, Florida, Raw Dawg definitely saw this as an advantage for himself. In Miramar, the friends that he made were also into music. At the verge of 2002, at the age of 17, Raw Dawg decided to take things seriously, and take his freestyle antics and make it into something serious. Through his influences from other artists such as, Tupac Shakur, Bob Marley, LL Cool J, and Public Enemy; his lyrical prowess became very strong. Once Raw Dawg realized that there was potential with the skills he possessed behind the microphone, he decided it was time to make a change in his life, and wanted to better the one of his family.

He sees this specialty for changing it up as a way to entertain his audience even more. With ear catching sounds he feels he can connect on a different level than everyone else. With this skill set Raw Dawg wants to come into the industry sporting something different. Realizing that rap and hip-hop artists are always talking about the same topics, he wants to make feel good music that belongs in the streets. Raw Dawg wants to be able to connect to the streets while his music connects to the soul of someone like R&B does. Emotions are put behind his music, and he wants to be able to connect to other’s emotion.
Once he gains status as an established artist, music will not be his only endeavor. He plans on becoming more involved with his music and other musical talents. To write lyrics for other artists, produce instrumentals, manage his fledging recording group, Stomp Ground Productions, and also do some acting are some other aspects he would be willing to focus on. As stated in many of his tracks, he wants the world to know that he WILL SUCCEED in this business.
