KPSF REVIEW:
WeAreCanFly demo
"Post-hardcore, being the relatively popular genre that it is at the moment, requires a band to have plenty of good ideas to stand out from the crowd. Newcastle's keepsafe manage that without any trouble; this demo has plenty of great moments spread across its four tracks. "David Attenborough" kicks off the cd, and is a good example - especially the riff at the end. Many a band would've based the whole song around it, but here it's used as a nice punchy finale. keepsafe always seem to have somthing up their sleeve like this; something to keep the tune interesting, whether its a new section, a change in direction, or a part from the syth, which is used sparingly. The track is also a good example of the sung vocals; they're a little messy, but that helps their pleasing sense of desperation.
More strengths include the occasional groovy or dancy part, and some absolutley mental screams - its a testament to the bands versatility that these can both be heard in one song: "Ksssh!" sound almost schizophrenic, darting between toe-tapping and skull-cracking.
The Two aforementioned great songs book-end the demo, but the two in the middle certainly don't let the team down. That makes four good tunes out of four, you'll notice - go see keepsafe."
Rating - 4/5
