Coming off the release of his full-length debut album "Sometimes a Story" and now the brand new recording of the festive CD single "African Christmas," released in November 2006, English tenor singer Brian Rodford appears poised to become a shining new voice in the world of spiritual vocal music.
The brand new "African Christmas," a new take on Rodford's 2005 holiday release, features the brilliant voices of the Livingstone (South Africa) High School choir and the rhythms of an incredible South African percussion section. This is a new holiday song not to be missed.
An Anglican priest on assignment in South Africa, Rodford has been singing since he was a boy growing up back in England and his entire singing career to this point has been a prelude to the release of these amazing recordings. He strarted singing at a very early age, when he performed on Danish radio and German television as a tenor soloist with the St. Albans and District Youth Choir in England. Later, he was trained by internationally acclaimed lieder singer Kathleen Joyce, he became a medallist and cup winner at eisteddfods and festivals throughout England and Wales with his soaring tenor voice.
On his full length CD "Sometimes a Story," which in a way marked the culmination of his years of singing experience, he was joined by internationally acclaimed film and television composer Guy Dagul. Dagul is a longtime friend and collaborator of his, and the camraderie between the two comes through clearly in the beautifully constructed interplay between Dagul's fine instrument arrangement and Rodford's spirited, moving vocals.
Standouts on "Sometimes a Story" include "Fly Away," "Gently Remember," and "I Must Go," but each track on this unique recording brings something new and special to listeners.
One of the key aspects to Rodford's music is the message behind it, a message that hope and faith still have a place in a world that's all too often consumed by tragedy and gloom.
