Influences: I first became aware of the bass as an instrument in its own right, with the playing of Pierre Michelot in 'The Jacques Loussier Trio' recordings of 'Play Bach' I heard as a boy.
Then came 'rock' and Andy Fraser, Noel Redding and Chris Squire.
With a growing interest in Soul, Funk and Jazz, came James Jamerson, Rocco Prestia, Jaco, Bootsy Collins, Jeff Berlin, and others.
Lately I've been listening to the incredible Richard Bona, whose combination of astonishing technical ability and warm musicality, both as soloist and accompanist, is inspirational.Other musical influences would have to be; 70's Progressive rock, J.S. Bach,
James Brown, Steve Morse &The Dregs, Joni Mitchell, the Beatles, Bonnie Raitt, Miles Davis, Judee Sill, Tower of Power and anyone else whose music over the years has made me feel that being a musician (of whatever standard!) is just about the best thing in the world.........
