About Me

I grew up in a house full of music, and music has been with me all my life.... I played folk in Canterbury (String Course) rock in Brighton (Meanstreak and Loup Garou) and in Bath, everything from 'electric-folk' through 'Blues' & Funk, to Jazz, with 'Nightfall,' 'Built for Comfort,' 'Fujabluso,' 'The Electric Lobsters,' 'THe Sophie Price trio.' and many others...................................................... ............................................................ ............................................ I'm currently playing progressive country-Rock with my own band 'BlueDog,' soul and funk with 'Skarper,' occasionally depping jazz bass with the lovely Kaz and Nigel in 'Duenna,' and am lucky enough to be playing bass in 'The Innes Sibun Band.'...................................................... ............................................................ ............................................................ ...................................The Tunes; Although the Bass is my main instrument, I'm trying to become a better all-round musician, playing some guitar (electric and accoustic,) keyboards, and working on my vocals. 'Myspace Music' gives me a friendly environment in which to try out all these things, as well as working on my song and music writing. With the exception of the Innes Sibun track, 'Fishermans Wharf,' recorded live at 'Gloucester Accoustica,' all the tunes above are original demos, written and played by me as the headline says "Just for the hell of it!" A big 'Thankyou' to all of you who take the time and trouble to listen, and to encourage; It really helps!! ------------ ------------------------ ------------- ------------- ---------------- -------Free MySpace Layouts by Iron Spider

Influences: I first became aware of the bass as an instrument in its own right, with the playing of Pierre Michelot in 'The Jacques Loussier Trio' recordings of 'Play Bach' I heard as a boy. Then came 'rock' and Andy Fraser, Noel Redding and Chris Squire. With a growing interest in Soul, Funk and Jazz, came James Jamerson, Rocco Prestia, Jaco, Bootsy Collins, Jeff Berlin, and others. Lately I've been listening to the incredible Richard Bona, whose combination of astonishing technical ability and warm musicality, both as soloist and accompanist, is inspirational.Other musical influences would have to be; 70's Progressive rock, J.S. Bach, James Brown, Steve Morse &The Dregs, Joni Mitchell, the Beatles, Bonnie Raitt, Miles Davis, Judee Sill, Tower of Power and anyone else whose music over the years has made me feel that being a musician (of whatever standard!) is just about the best thing in the world.........
