About Me

Brian Lofton has been playing music since he was a baby. Coming up in a church based family, Brian had great musical influences like his dad Norleslie Lofton who was a well known musician in the church as well as, his mom Sharon Lofton who also sang in various groups around the country. As Brian grew, so did his passion for music. He came into the world playing drums and would play at his home church New Friendship Baptist Church under the tutledge of Henry "Hank" Jones. Brian grew in his love for drum playing and over the years became very skilled at it. He was active all through grammer school as a percussionist in his school band and in high school where he was apart of the Marian Cathoic High School Marching Band, and later joined up with the Rich South Jazz band where he recieved numerous awards for his playing ability. But still Brian had a passion for music that went far beyond just one instrument. Brian's parents noticed a drive he had for playin the piano and organ so, he began taking music lessons from his grandfather William Webb, who was also a great musician in his own right. By the age of thirteen Brian began playing at his very first church, New Life Christian Church. Here he learned how to teach the choir and learned how to flow in service. Brian grew in his passion for playing particularly the organ and gained influence from other Great musicians such as Earnest Allen Jr., Eric Thomas, and Terry Moore. Brian had begun to establish hiself as a great up and coming musician playing for churches such as, New Faith Baptist Church in Matteson Illinois where he had the opportunity to study under even more great teachers and musicians such as Sterling Culp who was the Minister of music there, Benard Evans, brother to the great Pharis Evans and nephew of Pastor Clay Evans, Keith Sally, and also another influence Panell Johnson. Brian loved to play the drums and loved to play the piano and organ but he then developed a desire to play the bass guitar and began to teach hiself how to play. He would listen to great bass players such as Maurice Fitzgerald, Sharay Reed, J. J. Smith, Anthony Harmon and a host of others. By the time Brian was fifteen he began playing the bass around the city with groups such as Tony Tidwell and Righteous Living, Macio Harris and the Voices of Praise, The Chicago Mass Choir, and many other groups. Brian has been afforded the opportunity to play the bass on three live recordings with the GMWA Youth Department and also established hiself as the bass player for R&B Artist Dave Hollister for two years. But Brian could'nt negate the fact that although he was a bass player and a drummer he had an unusual annoiting to play the organ. So Brian continued playing around the city for different churches until 2001 where he became the organist at the Sweet Holy Spirit Church where Bishop Larry Trotter is Pastor. Brian's annointing for the organ was furthur cultivated here. Brian was given the opportunity to travel with Bishop Trotter around the country playing for him as he preached which lead to other opportunities to play for other well known preachers such as: Bishop Greg Davis, Bishop Tavis Grant, Prophet Todd Hall, Pastor Jamal Bryant, Bishop Simon Gordon, Pastor Willie James Campell, and many other great preachers. Brian stayed with Bishop Trotter until 2007 and currently serves the music department of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church Of Morgan Park where the pastoer is Bishop William Anthony Ellis. Brian is skilled at playing Hymns, spirtuals, and anthems. The opportunity to play with great artist in the gospel industry came as a blessing from God. Brian has recorded with a host of artist such as: Vashawn Mitchell and Friends, Sweet Holy Spirit Church, Mark Hubbard and the United Voices, Malcom Williams and Great Faith, Nancy Wilson, Shammond Scales, Lavarnga Hubbard, UCCC Mass Choir, and has played for numerous artist such as: Ricky Dillard and New G, Kirk Franklin, Kelly Price, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Kim Burell, Praise II Chorale, Adrian King and Reverence, Micheal Miller, Vanessa Williams, KC and JoJo, and a host of others. Brian has just finished a three month tour as the Music Director for the gospel stageplay Issues We All Got'em. Now he is settling into his new music director postion for now gospel artist Dave Hollister.
