WELCOMERITCHIE FORTUNATE Biography
Ritchie Fortunate is a slam poet and refined spoken word artist hailing originally from the grains of Long Island, NY. Since his early childhood he has always had a close connection to Hip Hop lyrics, various forms of music, communication, and rhymes. His musical influences range from the depth of Underground Hip Hop to infectious House to the rawness of Soul and to the rebelliousness of Metal and Alternative Rock.He began his vocal artistry as a teenager participating in rap battles then as he matured into adulthood he began to join various Rap groups and construct songs. However, during his latter years in 1999 personal tradegy stuck and this made him shift into spoken word and he started performing in 2003. He has consistenly ranked in the top three of various college slam poetry contests and made it to the 2006 semi-final ACUI Slam Poet Regionals.Ritchie is very versatile sometimes expressing unique concepts through his pieces or just providing insight on his experiences. His baritone voice, engaging personality and uncanny cadences forces audiences to listen effortlessly. He is truly an artist of life who meshes slam poetry with charm, power, and eloquence. Yes, being a Hip Hop emcee sparked his passion and this still remains apparent in his pieces but slam poetry is his life-long desire.

A version of causality interlocking purpose Usurping any justification I’m a weapon I inflict Constant illumination Rays of light per second making time seem irrelevant Etched conversations for Zeus Forced my dye to regress to an infantile essence Lost in the sand mask of an hourglass in search of youths fountain To fill my finite shell with water

I’m the abstraction the abused muse All of humanity’s weirdness is channeled through Automatically colorful in terms The catalyst of leviathan’s mire With the talismans flask I, the tainted warmonger must ignite imaginations fuse Bring creative hell balanced with heavenly talents

Each written verse forces tectonics to shift Supernova a universe with logical spit Galloping on a dark steed Eyes charcoal brimstone bleak The symbol the wraith Harbinger of wrath judgements at stake Just an idyllic messenger tongue kissed expressed afflictions Demented descriptions Dating eons back before any transcriptions
Before forever was born
Before eternity was a mere idea to the Gods
I wrote in pits of purgatory Desperately trying to even the odds Warrior wickedly waving letters making oceans magna Metaphoric scripted sorcerer Controlled homosapien anatomies the nature organic Assumed to be beaten still rise compared to Aurora’s horizon Scribing the dimensions of an atlas My steadfast position a thinking stance not surprising Unbreakable determination Though the pain of creation anew it’s a burden
