************************************************************ ************************************************************ ************************************************************ ************************************************************ *******************************************************Yes,t his is me on the first anniversary 9/11/02,NYC+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++I am an actor, dancer, model, and I play a bit of guitar. (When I'm in the right frame of mind...Sometimes I just wanna grow my nails.)...My earliest performing training was in public access cable tv as a child, spelling bees and science projects etc.,and March Of Dimes telethons taught me about camera angles and stage presence. But I got my Hollywood start dancing in rock videos,(Faster Pussycat:"Don't Change That Song" and KISS:"Crazy Crazy Nights" were my 1st and 2nd rock videos...) then got to doing small parts in tv shows and motion pictures.See "Fathers Day",because my very first close up was in that film. Also look for Smithsonian Magazine,June 1999, the Farmers Markets Across America issue.I have a photograph in that, wearing an Aliester Crowley t-shirt!I'm also in Flipside Magazine twice, in 1998 or 1999,with El Duce of the Mentors (RIP,the 2nd issue was his obituary.)I am a star on the cutting room floor.*giggles with irony*I thought my big break would come with the tv series "Pretender"(though all our scenes in Pretender got cut,and they were closeups.) Then the film "Rock Star",where I had closeups dancing by myself when the Ted Nugent song "Stranglehold" started, then during the pot smoking scene when Jennifer Aniston walked out of the ladies room....we (cast and crew alike) thought Rock Star would be a box office hit but then 9/11 happened 4 days after Rock Star was released.Warner Bros stopped promoting the film after our Nation was attacked by islamists.I harbor a grudge against islam for this.(Not to mention islam's human rights abuses and all that terrorism) AlQaeda et al put a monkeywrench in my career!AND (along with the damn Kodak Theatre/Hollywood & Highland project which made Hollywood rents go through the stratosphere) transplanted me away from my friends and my life!Entertainment is my life.I am a jazz dancer.I've had some colourful gigs in my life.Any stage is a kewl venue.I was an Ivar girl.If the book ever comes out people would never believe it is nonfiction. Ah,someday maybe...once I finally decide what I'm willing to divulge to the Public...I am an artist.I can zebra stripe or leopard spot anything.I have been told that I am a writer.I write analytical essays as well as poetry.I've kept journals since forever.(Not as much, when I'm living in NJ as life is not as eventful.)I love my freedom and I do what I want, when I feel like doing it.I attract rather than chase.I live beneath my means, and I eschew debt. When I make it,after I set up my folks with a house, I'm opening up a no-kill cat shelter ................................................... PHOTO of Cat Poster copyright Leathur Rokk and a shelter for homeless people, taking NO government funds that way I don't have to abide by certain rules and regulations I might not agree with.(I won't kill any of the homeless Humans either)'smirk'If you just saw me for the first time, you would note that, I am a petite woman with long purple hair and a septum piercing. I adore wearing miniskirts with garterbelts and stockings sticking out.Stockings are the de-reguere accessory IMHO, and I am NOT trying to turn you on!Its just my style.I love vivid makeup. Why be boring when U can be fabulous. Many nice people think I'm gothic or a punk rocker.Or even a hippie.I am probably parts all of those and much more. What's with people and their need to compartmentalize each other? If I may quote Gore Vidal:"Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say and not giving a damn!"But I also like this quote from a character in the charming new tv series "Ugly Betty":"Be who you are.Wear what you want. And learn how to run very fast."
Since 9/11 I switched my focus away from pop culture somewhat and onto American politics and international current events. But if it appears I may have taken a hiatus from my own entertainment career, make no mistake about it.I haven't disappeared.....last year I got photographed in Philadelphia on Ben Franklin's 300th Birthday for a United States Post Office newsletter-Most recently,I got on local Los Angeles news television 3 times this season, for broadcasts about John Lennon. They always have shindigs at Capitol Records on his birthday, deathday and for George Harrison.I got photographed for "Punk Rock Confidential" magazine,(that comes out quarterly) and I got interviewed and photographed for "The Collegian",the newspaper of L.A.City College. And this is just in the past 3 months.(Thanks Dwaine Harris, your Photography rawks!)THIS IS A SELF PORTRAIT SO COPYRIGHT 2009 LEATHUR ROKKTHIS WAS FROM CLUB NOCTURNE IN PHILADELPHIA JUNE 2010........................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ...........................................
