The 108 posse is a Hip-Hop collective unlike any other. Consisting of four emcees and two producers, the crew hailing from Dope City, B.C. has been making music together for over 14 years. 108 has various sub-groups with very different soundscapes:
Rigor Institute - Jon reX and Jis the Future
Hassas - Nick Dynamo, Jis the Future and Jon reX
Fedahi - Jon reX and Raa D
Green Card - Raa D and Nick Dynamo
Blue Mongols - HOG D and TOM G
Circadian Rhythms - Ro Data and Big Pawly
The 108 posse has done big things in the last few years from rocking the Havana Hip-Hop Festival in Cuba, to performing on the Vans Warped Tour to opening for Hip-Hop heavyweights such as Mobb Deep, Young Buck (G-Unit) and Chingy.
Green Card released their debut EP 'We're Not Your Friends' in early 2005. Friendly Serpent, a 108 side project which features Jis the Future, Jon reX, DJ Chong Wizard and (specially recruited for the album) a soul singer by the name of Cold Groovy Amuzu. While the whole album was recorded in the summer of 2002, the funk sounds like it's from 25 years before that. The 108 Crew compilation 'The 108 Is Great' followed.
2009 looks promising with two projects ready to be unleashed. Firstly, the as yet untitled follow up to Green Card's masterful debut and Jis The Future's solo opus "Full Release". Keep your ears to the streets.
