About Me

“Incredibly rich full-bodied Maple sugar aroma and sweet, woody flavor Rounded and quite Fragrant on the palate Long, smooth, sweet And delicious finish”
Erin McDermott has been writing and performing her original style of mysteriously familiar and boisterously catchy alt-grass/Americana, opening for the likes of Grammy Award winner Tim O'Brien, Darol Anger, Mike Marshall, Russ Barenberg and Railroad Earth. Erin has captured a style that is not only evocative, but uniquely her own and has begun to gain the attention of established singer/songwriters.

Born in a tourist, beach town in New Jersey, Erin moved from East coast to West and four states in between, by the time she was three. A keen observer of the human experience, she has gathered countless stories about intriguing characters through her many adventures. Masterfully depicting the lush landscape of bittersweet Vermont summer days, lingering winter nights, and the people that stoke the fires in her memories, she brings to life these characters in every breath she takes. Whether writing about historical figures with mordant humor, expressing tender strength and sophistication or reaching toward light hearted enthusiasm, Erin possesses a powerful gift for communicating her life stories.

Erin is currently fronting the Vermont based band, The Dixie Red Delights.

Accompanying the "Reds" on guitar and mandolin is long time friend and colleague Doug Perkins, best known for his work with Smokin' Grass and his performances with musical greats such as Vassar Clements, Mike Gordon, Jon Fishman, Leftover Salmons and Jamie Masefield (Jazz Mandolin Project).

Jen Well- Bass-Jen Wells, accompanies the Delights on bass with her rhythmically creative and jubilant bass lines. Jen has a vast knowledge of the music, creating perfect rhythms to add to the lush fire grass sound.

Ben Roy- Drums-Ben Roy is the finest young talent on drums in Vermont. With impeccable timing, unmatched energy and marvelously exciting rhythms Ben is the key melodic component to the Delights.

Matt Schrag- Mandolin- a relative newcomer to the Vermont music scene. Originally from Virginia, Matt has already found his nitch playing regularly with some of Vermont’s finest including The Gordon Stone Band, The Dixie Red Delights, Brett Hughes, Adam Frehm, Mike Santosusso, and D Davis among others. Also a fine singer, Matt brings a traditional, yet incredibly fresh approach to his lively mandolin playing conveying the most subtle yet dynamic leads on his instrument.
“Erin McDermott writes short stories in song about small town life in Vermont. Her characters come alive in the songs and you get to know these real people by the time the second chorus comes around. With a voice as strong and as uniquely expressive as her lyrics, Erin is a songwriter to watch in the coming years.”
Tim O’Brien (Singer Songwriter)
"Erin McDermott's voice is true and authentic, it embodies everything Vermont and good"
Jamie Masefield (Jazz Mandolin Project)
