I'm a Commissioning Editor at the TV station Five. Which means I'm one of the people who looks at ideas that come into the station and oversees the ones that go to air. If you watch the channel late at night and it's Factual the chances are it's something I've been involved in. "True CSI", "Shock Docs", "Pimp My Ride UK", "Autopsy" " The Sex Tapes that Shocked the World", "Trust Me I'm a Holiday Rep" are all my reponsibility - sometimes I do things earlier in the schedule like the Prince Charles fronted Drama Doc Series "Victoria Cross Heroes" .I started out at college as a freelance writer for the Daily Telegraph and The Face. Weirdly I also did weekly music reports for Austrian radio - very useful for getting hold of cds and concert tickets - not very useful for paying rent. I was part of the core team behind C4 magazine shows Eurotrash Fortean TV, Passengers and Freak Out. When I hit thirty I thought I should be making Documentaries which is how i ended up as an executive in the "News Current Affairs and Documentaries" department at Five which is a lot less boring than you might think.
