Tony031R is one of the most promising names inside the romanian DJ community, with an experience in music and electronic music scene development in Romania. Antonio Nartea, born in Bucharest in 1988, had his first contact with electronic music in 2002 starting with artists like The Crystal Method, Orbital, FSOL, The Orb, Asian Dub Foundation, Overseer, DJ Shadow, Monkey Mafia, Leftfield, Ludovic Navarre or DJ Spooky. In 2003 he went to his first raves and in the same period of time, found himself attached to the sounds of drum&bass through labels like Good Looking Records or Metalheadz. After a long research period, in 2005 he had his first attempt of involving into the scene by starting a messageboard Electrovision Events & Urban Culture, which managed to stay alive for more than 2 years.
Starting 2005, Tony begins writing electronic music articles, reviews and chronicles, starts to involve in PR activities for different events in Bucharest and meets Miki Biris, Tomasan and VRT, three of his long term friends and supporters. In 2006 he makes the switch from drum&bass to lower tempo bass music. His interest towards dubstep will rise till autumn 2007 when he becomes a co-founder of the first bass music dedicated portal in Romania, Dubstep.ro and alongside TRG and Alien Pimp, becomes one of the pioneers of the genre and scene in Romania. In winter 2007 he organises alongside Tomasan, the first 100% dubstep event in Romania and also the firs event under the name of Dubstep.ro. A couple of weeks later he starts DJ-ing in a local pub alongside VRT and Tomasan.
In 2008 and 2009 he develops the promoter aspect of Dubstep.ro starting to organise events alongside Yazee.ro. He invites in almost 8 months, in premiere for Romania, names like Boc, Whistla, Caspa, Loefah or MC Sgt. Pokes and in the meantime he develops a new brand – Hey! Events, starts working with other promoters like Tralala, Get Messy, Up2 or Sound & Image Events and continues to write for Dubstep.ro, DubstepXclusive or High Definition Music. In the course of two years he’s mixing in different venues like Fabrica, Setup, Suburbia, Expirat, The Other Side, Baraka, Mash-Up, Brasov Fortress, Gothic, Kabinet, Platinium, Shire, Irish Music & Pub. X-Cave, Base Shop. He shares the line-up with international artists like Loefah & Sgt. Pokes, Caspa, Benga, Virus Syndicate, Tes La Rok, Al-Haca Soundsystem, Invasian Krew Killah (ex-Asian Dub Foundation), Etnik & Fuzz, Corn Flex, Boc and local artists like TRG, Seb, Alien Pimp, Tomasan, VRT, Suie Paparude, Aria Urbana, WRK, Acqzuel, Whiteroly, Dropdread, Addo, Dan Bazix, Phoneme, Goblin, Bully, D-Laid, Reash, Alez, Amon, Unlocka, Techline and many many more.
His DJ sets are often a showcase of genres and sub-genres, the accent leaning on an across the board selection from deep to dancefloor and diversity. He plays dub-techno, bristol, dubstep, oldschool garage, 2-step, future garage, uk funky or 4/4. A couple of his favourite artists are: 2562, Martyn, Scuba, Marcel Dettmann, Shed, Surgeon, Untold, Ramadanman, Appleblim, Peverelist, Pinch, TRG, Skream, Caspa, Mala, LD, Kode9, El-B, Zed Bias, Whistla, Baobinga.
