About Me

About 30 years to get to this point. Over 20 of them as an acoustic guitarist. Couldn't have done it without various massively bad or simply mistaken partner experiences, a few cheap epiphanies, slightly more friends than enemies and the growing conviction that what I do is really rather good.
I compose freely and loosely; almost never going back to retouch the music. My aim is to find the moments generated through randomly applied acts and then capture, refine and enhance them. These acts can be anything from notes on a keyboard to randomizations in a sequencer. Once I catch it, it's then a matter of sustaining it till it's time to move on to the next one / track.
The results can be strikingly musical: a quality I didn't know I possessed.
On a personal level and regardless of the inspiration behind it my music somehow always suggests the memory of colours and the weather; of taking myself back to certain times and places from my childhood. I guess that's the hook I'm looking to add new moments on.
I generate all my sounds through virtual instruments but try to keep the digital from dominating the sounds and the sounds as "played" as possible
On a different note, I'm getting a lot of great feedback from myspace and would like to thank all those people who have responded and who I've had the pleasure of meeting personally or virtually. Rewarding experiences both. Great guys who you never imagine are there!
Have a few irons in the fire at the moment; some more long term than others, but would like to try my hand at soundtracks and sound design for film and game. I think my visual style lends itself very easily to that use. Anyone who's connected in that area please feel free to get in touch or pass it on.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: coming soon
Band Members: Myself in various incarnations
Influences: At a loss as to what to say here.
We hear things and take them on board consciously or not.

Nevertheless, I would give Debussy, Frisell, Tomita, Shostakovich, Penguin Cafe, Led Zep, Zorn, Sharp, Hedges, Sclavis, Reich, Riley (Terry not Steve), Nyman, Frith, Glass, Satie, Eno, Sylvian, Ackerman.

At the end of the day it's all in the moments and even as I write this a thousand more jump to mind.

Everything I've ever heard and enjoyed influences me. The most moving sounds in the world are those of running water, wind and rooks in trees.
Sounds Like: all middle and no end
Record Label: Round. I think.
