About Me

Absence of the Sun is a band from Portland, Maine. It started out as a fun after school hobby and has since formed into one of Maine's most ferocious metal acts. The band has seen members come and leave, temperatures flare, wild parties ensue, and the occasional fist fight. after 1 drummer, two lead singers, 3 bassists and a number of musical shifts the band has really come into their own. Mark and Matt's guitar riffage bleeds the sonic ooze reminiscent of shadows fall, children of bodom, and lamb of god. Manuelito shakes the ground with his precision drumwork proving that with 2 toms, a snare, and a double bass, its not the size of the kit, its what you do with it. Recently in 06-07 Ned (formerly of other bands) was asked to front Absence of the Sun.
After jamming several times and playing a handful of shows we've realized what AOTS is destined to become, and we will further our styles and do what it takes to evolve into one of the fastest, most melodic, epic, and heavy metal bands on this side of the hemisphere, and if we have it our way, the world.
If you're looking for a band that destroys your senses with live performance...
