Tricycle Sound Studio

About Me

Tricycle Sound Studio is a digital tracking and mixing studio located in Chicago's Andersonville neighborhood, owned and operated by David Elliot Johnson.
Eschewing the notion that big recordings only happen in big studios, Tricycle Sound offers a remarkable pairing of technical know-how and a musician's touch to produce a wide array of recordings. TS has produced recordings for many Chicago bands and songwriters. Working collaboratively with songwriters, David has developed fully realized recordings, often providing supporting instrumentation (i.e. live drums, bass, guitar leads, keys) himself. He has also produced voiceover recordings, hip hop beats, music student audition demos, songwriter work tapes, post production, and creative ad content production. Tricycle Sound is the go-to resource for all Hyatt.com hotel website music composition.
David has extensive experience as a composer, performer, and producer. He is registered as a writer/publisher with SESAC, and his compositions and productions have been heard on NPR's All Things Considered and college radio stations nationwide. His most recent productions, Sanawon's 'Bonfire Night' (Ona Records) and Favorite Saints 'The Ways We Echo' LP (Play Favorites) have been played on WXRT's local anesthetic showcase, which features the best of Chicago's up and coming music. David co-wrote and co-produced Very Secretary's critically acclaimed album 'Standing in the Shade' (Mud/Parasol records) and was featured prominently as guitarist and vocalist with the ensemble.
