find and share recovery images at anonymousspace.comI am really grateful for all that I have today. I entered Rehab June 1st of 2005 against my own will. Somehow I ended up sticking it out for a full nine months. I'm not sure how I came about deciding to stay clean but I'm incredibly grateful that I did. After completing my stay in that facility (Gateway) I chose to come to the monarch house which is a recovery home in Rockford Illinois. I've came to the conclusion that that was probably one of the hardest and best decisions I've ever made. I managed to stay there for a little over a year which resulted in a lot of growth on my part. I moved out and got my own apartment and learned what living on your own and being an adult is all about. I am still learning and will be my entire life. It is a great feeling to be able to go through struggles today and still have a good amount of peace in me. Now my life is far better then I ever could have dreamed of! I have almost 4 years sober and am enjoying my life despite the struggles I go through. I went into rehab expecting to go there do my time and get out to go back to my miserable existence. God apparently had another plan for me. It amazed me that I came from what I did and managed to get this far in life at such a young age. AA and my higher power has shown me a whole new way of living, a way that allows me to enjoy life the the fullest extent and for that I am truly grateful! God is good is about the only words I can use to describe my life today!
