Jacob "Jay Prime" Waddy Gayton was born in Seattle Washington on March 26, 1992. Prime has always had an ear for music. Tupac Shakur, Christopher "Biggie Smalls" Wallace, and other 'deep' rap artists always caught his attention, but it wasn't until Prime's 3rd grade year of school that he began drifting towards his own world in music. He then started to focus on making his own music and expanding his talent as a song writer. Years passed; while Prime was a part of his school choir and performing solo acts with award winning gospel Artist, Kirk Franklin. As well as Muhammad Ali, a choir led by Debbie Cavit for the Seattle Super Sonics, and South African President, Nelson Mandela; Jacob continued to practice and record music of his own; hip hop music, that is; with the help of Amos miller, who gave Prime access to his first professional studio. As time progressed, Prime watched his talent mature. In January of 2006, he and his family made a move to Atlanta, Georgia. Jay Prime is currently working with up and coming producer, Wild Chronic, Aftermath Producer DJ Focus, Antware Walker, and has a single with Fiya Lee of Atlanta Jams ENT. Prime performs in D.C, or Seattle whenever he does not have to attend school, and is still putting together songs for his album, "High School High" scheduled for its release date, June 22nd. Prime has also participated in talent shows, placing 1st place at his high school(Febuary 2008) with a couple of his colleagues, and 2nd(March 2009) performing solo, Prime continues to keep his faith in Christ Jesus first and his mother as he tries his best to balance out his love for music and success in school.
