Liza

Liza Figueroa is a songwriter and composer. In 1991, she was the musical director for Prince's protege project "Robin Power and the Uptown Dames" for which she wrote some of the music. Before that, she toured with major recording artists such as Stacy Lattisaw, Trouble Funk, and Pleasure.The first song on this page, "Woman's Touch" features music written by Liza for Robin Power and the Uptown Dames. The rap was written by an artist named Kou. This is just a rehearsal tape - Robin and the Dames never recorded the real album.The second song, "The Teacher," was written by all the Uptown Dames band members during a rehearsal, as requested by Prince. This version, also on a rehearsal tape, does not include the rap part of the song for copyright law reasons.The third song is a song that Liza wrote for the "Octaves Beyond Silence" compilation album, which benefits women survivors of violence around the world.Liza presently composes music for film, video and television.
