Contact Toledo and Ohio officialsExpress your anger at how this specific situation has been handled, and how LaGrange is generally treated by the powers-that-be.
Officials and offices in the city you may want to contact:
Prosecutor (City) 936-2385
This is the number for the city prosecutor. Call and politely demand that all charges against Donnell Summers, and all those arrested as a result of the "Toledo Riot", be dropped and their cases dismissed.
Youth Commission Sara Hoffman, Director, Co-Director Dwayne Morehead, Director, Co-Director Bill Davis, Board Chair One Government Center, Suite 2250 Toledo, Ohio 43604 Phone: 419-936-3677 Fax: 419-245-1462
Ask them to support policies that encourage the growth of local youth, instead of their current policies of policing and criminalizing a generation. Another idea might be to request that they present a civics reward in tribute to all the youth who stood up against Nazism and police repression. Ask them about their goal to "Create and promote gang awareness and prevention." Point out that on October 15th 2005 the local gangs called a truce to act together in the interests of the community. While their numbers were very small they worked with the community and showed up in a completely political role for the day to oppose Nazism. Ask them why when the gangs and community came together and solved the gang problem themselves their efforts were attacked by local government who re-initiated the cycle of arbitrary criminalization.
Crime Stopper - 419-255-1111 Gang Suppression Unit - 419-936-3150
Call these numbers. Let them know that Genocidal hate groups have been in your community. Also report the activities of a large group, whose members all dress the same, are well armed, only answer to themselves and have on several occasions, killed, beaten, terrorized, and unlawfully imprisoned members of your community. Let them know you fear that their influence spreads in the court system. (Yes, we are talking about the police here.)
Block Watch
"Residents can work together to prevent and report incidences of crime through Neighborhood Block Watch. To find out how you can join or start a Block Watch, please contact a Community Services Officer at the District Stations listed above." (from Toledo city website)
Call the above numbers and let them know that October 15th 2005 was the founding of a new Block Watch in North Toledo that works "for the people, by the people".

This is the mayor – you probably will never actually get to speak with him because you are probably not a billionaire or corporate representative, but leave his office messages voicing your opinion on the city's repression of North Toledo's anti-racist residents.

This is the office of the Chief of Police. 3 words: "Protect and Serve". Ask the Toledo Police who they are referring to when they say this.
City Coucil:
Go as individuals or groups to city council meetings. Like the mayor don't expect much from them. But making your voice heard to folks like this can be all part of the process for asserting the rights of your community. Here are the dates for some of their upcoming meetings. Their websites state that "The public is encouraged to attend." So tell them that Clerk of Council Gerald E. Dendinger sent you.
