Orenda was created back in 1998 at the University of Rouen.
They started their work as a Dream Theater cover band but the will to express themselves, their own feelings became too strong and after a while, the composition started.
In September 2000, “A Tale Of A Tortured Soul†is under work, but in February 2002, Orenda suffers a car accident.
Two years then passed and the band didn't play a single note.
2003-2004: two demos are released at the Fnac of Rouen, Le Havre, Paris and Lyon.
August 2005 is the start of the “ATOATS†recordings. It is fully auto produced and Musea will release it in February 2008.
At the same time, a new bass guitar player joins the band to replace JC Valentin(good luck), his name is Julien Esteve.
Orenda can now go back work again and start thinking of a new album, but at the moment, the band works on a medley including some Dream Theater, Pain of Salvation, Queen, Spock’s Beard, SymponyX, Extreme songs such as Caught in a web, Forward, Death on two legs…some of Orenda’s influences.
ORENDA was ten years old when the first album was eventually published, on the Musea label. That concept-album, "A Tale Of Tortured Soul" (2008), is made of nine songs chained like one long piece. That French band's main influence is undoubtely DREAM THEATER. But that's not all, as some moments may recall SYMPHONY X, PAIN OF SALVATION for the dark atmospheres, and SHADOW GALLERY for worked-out vocal harmonies. And above all, there's a strong melodic sense. You'll find here complex and fst soli with quirky interplay between guitar and synthesizers, powerful riffs, and also nice acoustic sequences, lead vocals reminding James LaBRIE... ORENDA has a lot of musical ideas, a real instrumental virtuosity, and its Progressive heavy-metal is full of promises and talent.
