Pain Remains

About Me

The history of Pain Remains starts from the year 2002. At that time Eero Solje felt he wasn't able to try out his more hardcore oriented visions as the drummer of an active metal band later known as Sotahuuto. He had a dream of leading a hc band as the vocalist. So he teamed up with his friend Miika, a guitarist whose other musical projects were going through hard times. Eero talked Miika into playing the drums as he had experience on that area too. ”We could only get better at this, right?”
The next year the band got its third member when the guitarist Jussi Nokelainen joined the group. Eero had met him at several gigs and felt they shared the same kind of ambition towards hardcore metal. Soon a bass player was found as Taneli Törölä, a guitarist from Sotahuuto got interested in the project. This was the line-up when the band started rehearsing the material written in Finnish in 2003. At that point the the band carried the name Paljon Kipua (finnish for 'lots of pain')
Changing the language to English got the band to a studio to record the first demo with four songs under the band name Lots of Pain. The demo was recorded by Matti from Snail on the Plate. The few shows played between years 2004 and 2006 showed the group had a future. The right kind of enthusiasm and joy on and off the stage kept the new energetic band bashing forward.
Soon as the band decided to take their music to a more melodic direction with influences from bands like Comeback Kid and Abduktio they needed another guitarist to the line-up. Taneli stepped up and took the job. Vesa Ruohonen, a multitalented musician from Blooded and Tking Dkeys, joined the band and grabbed the bass.
In 2006 Jussi announced he had too much stuff going on in his life so he could not continue with the band. This left the rest of the guys wondering if there still was a future for the band. Since they all agreed this project was something they didn't want to give up on, they continued rehearsing the material and soon set out to record the first full-length album.
Identity was recorded during the summer 2007 and released through Bullroser Records in April 2008. The album received both criticism and applause for being a mixture of hardcore and metal, a meeting point for different ideas. Like it or not, the band is still very pleased with their work and eager to get on stage again and again. This is what it's all about.
After the album release Heikki Vallanen joined the band as the bass player and completed the five-headed line-up for the band.
Though the summer 2008 turned out to be pretty quiet, Pain Remains is planning to reactivate soon and get the songs out to the stages and in peoples ears as often as possible.
See you guys and thanks for the support!
