Newman is a small Higher Education college in South West Birmingham, situated in Bartley Green.
Newman is a great place to study because of the friendly atmosphere... where else can you study where all your lecturers know your name? (This is sometimes bad if you miss lectures)
Founded in 1968 as a teacher training college, Newman is still training new teachers today and is very well respected in Birmingham and beyond for the quality of its graduates (good if you want a job).
Newman now offers degrees in a wide range of subjects (see the pretty links on the left hand side under interests). As well as single honours degrees, Newman offers combined honours and major/minor combinations. This allows you a lot of choice in what you study which can give you greater choice later on, whatever career you want to pursue.
There is on site accomodation for over 200 students, though many choose to live in rented accomodation in nearby areas or commute from home each day. There are many mature students and lots of different routes to gaining a degree or other qualification, such as Foundation Degrees and part time or distance learning.Bursaries are available for eligible students (money to help with fees and that food stuff which is necessary to stay alive - see our Bursary Calculator ).
At the end, you get a Degree from Leicester University -even though you may have never even been there. And Leicester Uni is good. Honest.
