Michelle's musical background ...........
A self declared hairbrush singer from an early age, Michelle's first love has always been music. Learning the standard alto recorder, piano and flute in primary school, Michelle learnt quite quickly that sheet music wasn't for her & spent most of the time playing by ear.
Music was prevalent in the home life, growing up with everything from the Beatles, to ABBA, Creedence Clearwater, Elvis and Nancy Sinatra Michelle couldn't help but sing along.
Michelle's first live performances came with her travels at her art exhibitions in Western Australia, Michelle has since played at many venues around Australia to develop her performance skills from the north west of Australia at the Dampier Sailing Club & Whim Creek Hotel, further south in Monkey Mia, Cataby, Tropicana's Beach Cafe & ACDC Art Gallery in Geraldton, Victoria Park Art Centre, Pelicans Cafe & The Purple Goat Cafe in Perth.
Michelle performed as lead vocalist, Michelle's first band "Rather Be Wierd Than Joe" formed with fellow students while completing a Diploma in Horticulture Albany regional TAFE. It was here that she first picked up the guitar encouraged by fellow band members, While working at the Premier Hotel as a barmaid & occasional singer (while then emerging Waifs played in the front bar). Teaching herself to play by listening to Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Hole, Soundgarden & Elastica Michelle slowly picked up the basic techniques as a rhythm guitarist.
A year later, Michelle moved back to Perth & sang with several bands, finding it hard to meet people with the same dedication & tenacity. Michelle's career took a new turn when she finally quit her full time marketing job to develop her guitar skills & work on a solo career. With her artistic skillsas a seascape painter, Michelle developed an income which soon took over as her major focus & she left her musical dreams on the back seat, restricted to parties, campfires & of late performing at her art exhibitions.
11 years down the track, Michelle has now turned her attention back to the inspiration that inspired her artistic career. MUSIC.
Michelle is open to new bookings Australia wide. Prices vary by venue, performance date, length & location PA supply & setup included in full rate.
