I'm 98. I'm a beatmaker. Hip-Hop, R&B, Soultronica/Neo-Soul. I'm an old school sample-head. I come from the days of "pause-button sampling". I'm talking bout pressing record & pause on a tape deck, waiting till the break gets to the right spot, catching the break, pausing it, and repeating that over and over again. Very tedious but your timing skills really benefit from it. From that I moved up to the Casio SK8. with a whopping .7 second sampling time on 4 pads, or 1.4 second sampling time on 2 pads. The trick you had to learn though was speeding the record up mad fast, then slowing the sample way down, This gave you a lot more sample time. Then I jumped to the EMU SP 1200. Now we're talking Up to 2.5 seconds per pad. I was in business. And when I added the Akai S1000 and S2800 the possibilities were endless. All that means nothing however, if you don't have that ear to find and put the right sounds together. I respect creativity. This means I go in my own direction and don't follow what everyone else is doing. When it comes down to it, you can only do you. I'm currently using a Mac with Reason and Logic Pro.
