Liu ZhiGuo is a 3rd year student of Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree. He studies with Han ChangChou, the principal horn of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra.
Liu was selected by the music director to play in the China Youth Orchestra as both the 1st horn and the low horn player. He has performed concerts thorughout China, including Taiwan, when he was in the China Youth Symphony Orchestra. He was playing in a woodwind quintet and received second price in the Chamber Music Competition of Central Conservatory of Music. He has participated in master classes with many well-known horn players including Stafan Dorh, Sarah Willis, Gerd Seifert, Barry Tuckwell, and Han XiaoMing..
Zhiguo started playing Horn when he was 10 years old. Before coming to Singapore, he was at the Central Conservatory of Music, Beijing, China where he studied under Dr.Chen GenMing, principal horn of the China Symphony Orchestra, and Professor Zhang ZhenWu, the chairman of China Horn Society.
