Huli Shallone, a Baltimore native, and a product of the roughest projects in Baltimore city, has been surrounded by drugs and violence his entire life. Growing up in a single parent home, Huli Shallone reached to the street life to provide for his family at the young age of thirteen. He became enamored by the street life but also possessed another true love, music. Huli began pursuing his passion, by performing in neighborhood talent shows and performances at the age of fourteen. Two major role models in Huli Shallone's life were his uncles and real-life Kingpins, "Slim Charles" and "Bodie"Barksdale, both portrayed in the HBO hit series, "The Wire". While continuing in his role as a provider for his family and pursuing his dream, Huli Shallone often found himself in trouble with the law and in and out of jail.
It was not until the year 2000, that Shallone grew tired of the fast life and began to focus more of his attention and energy into his music. During this critical time, he crossed paths with his long-time friend and partner, Okie. Okie and Huli Shallonecreated a music group, Nature's Problem, who proved very successful, making numerous hits and receiving air time on several radio stations. In addition to radio play, Nature's Problem performed live on television shows such as Apollo, and 106 & Park. Nature's Problem also toured with such artist as "Lil Flip" and "Mannie Fresh".
In 2005, Huli Shallone put out a solo project which sold over 10,000 units and made him the most acclaimed and requested local artist throughout Baltimore, Washington D.C., and several other cities. His hit, "For my Shorty", received over 5,000 plays on the radio and landed him performances internationally in places such as Grenada, where he traveled with the television network, BET. Despite pursuing his passion for music, Huli Shallone's life in the streets has not been forgotten. His music is largely influenced by those experiences. Huli Shallone's music often tells of true struggles and fame achieved in the street.
Huli Shallone not only depicts himself as a talented musician, but also showcases his talent in the area of acting. He has performed in several plays on stage before live audiences. Huli Shallone intertwines his real-life experiences, passion, and perseverance in pursuit of his career as a talented performer and musician. He remains true to his motto and goal, "I wont quit until they put dirt over me!"
