Lox’ Lane is April

Born April Patton in the “top of the south”, Covington, Kentucky, Lox’ Lane has always been captivated by poetry and music. Her love for poetry first came about in the second grade as she began to write her own poetry and short stories. She remembers watching the legendary poet Sonya Sanchez on PBS and being fascinated by her.Her mother was a big reader and collector of many books of poetry. Lox’ was given the outlet to read a variety of books and develop her skills as a poet. Her mother was also a great singer and beautifully sung along with albums by Barbara Streisand, Nancy Wilson, Dionne Warwick and Dee Dee Warwick who became some of Lox' Lanes all time favorite artists.During her childhood Lox' learned how to structure a song from looking at the back of a vinyl record. She would record herself singing made up songs on her trusty Emerson radio and would spend hours upon hours honing her craft of word play (playing on words). During high school and college years Lox’ Lane was infatuated by her studies in the areas of Creative Writing, English and History which have helped her to further evolve her creative skills.Lox’ Lane is a God-fearing woman whose sound is considered a refreshing mix of Neo-Soul and Hip-Hop. Her thought-provoking music often centers around feelings and emotions. A defining moment in her career was her one-year stint in Louisiana following the 2005 Hurricane Katrina unrest. Her time in Louisiana elevated her writing to a new level as this new culture and life of adventure opened her eyes to things she had never experienced before.Lox’ Lane is a songwriter, singer, producer and a spoken word artist. Her music is like a conversation through song. Performances to date include a Hurricane Katrina Benefit in New Orleans, the “Black Family Reunion” in Cincinnati, Ohio, and opening for Anthony David. In addition to becoming a well known songstress and spoken word artist Lox’ looks forward to becoming a well known songwriter in the industry lending her original pieces to other talented performers.
