V L V T academies headed up by renowned stylists Dwight Miller and Albie Mulcahy. The most widely emulated educational team in the industry. The team that has pioneered and taught the Dry-Cutting method of techniques throughout the world.
Cutting hair dry isn’t exactly new. The process has been around from the very beginning years of hairdressing itself. Preserved and used by hairdressers like Jean-Marc Maniatis in Paris. The one dry-cutting technique, effilage stayed in the textbooks into the 60s. Effilating to thin the hair was the last major dry-cutting technique used when pincurl/setting and the art of brushing were prevalent. By the late 50s, razor-cutting replaced this last remaining dry-cutting technique.
V L V T is respectful of all techniques from each of the major periods. The newest approach being the oldest, lost before the fifties effilate/brushing, sixties razor/back-combing, and London scissor cutting eras, geometrics/mid 60s (Vidal Sassoon), layered/late 60s (Roger Thompson-clients under the age of 45 patronized salons for the first time in salon history), new graduation/early 70s (Daryl Benson, then Christopher Brooker's-Firefly, haircut prices grew dramatically in many parts of the world) and cutting into the hair/late 70s (Daryl Benson). By the eighties, trends, techniques and headliners came from many parts of the world, Dwight’s team of Creative Designers in the early 80s produced many - next generation industry leaders. ............................................................

Dwight and Albie were close friends with John Sahag the world’s best-known and accomplished dry-cutting personality who took it to new heights in the celebrity and fashion worlds. With that gift, teaching, refining, developing dry-cutting into systems over several years, known as “the V L V T methodâ€. Not wet-cutting techniques used on dry-hair, but techniques that only work on dry hair. No approach brings out greater creativity and ones own artistic abilities.
A time in the craft to be proficient and respectful of techniques used throughout the important periods of hair-artistry. The intention of V L V T academies, to cultivate and nurture hairdressers worldwide, promote, enlighten and refine an interest in learning the characteristics of a new - all encompassing hair-society. ............................................................
