Shorty (formed 2003) is a passionate and powerful 5-piece band whose reputation has grown and spread rapidly across Ontario, since their recent break on to the scene. Now a group of college delinquents the band originates from best friends and high school dreams. Shorty is often described as an emo-influenced power-punk band with a sound that is fresh, unique, and stylish. While there is no band out there that does it quite like Shorty, traces of influence from other leading modern bands include, Saves the Day, Fall Out Boy Senses Fail, Taking Back Sunday, Finch, Dashboard Confessional and Rufio. Shortys shocking four-song demo State of the Heart Technology rocked the province featuring passionate songwriting born from sleepless nights, the everyday heartache, and college romances. With intense and emotional songs that reach out to todays young and young-at-heart, Shorty delivers an unforgettably strong, stylish, and exciting performance live and on stage.

The story of the band begins as most good stories do with the meeting of best friends. Its almost too obvious that a band would start like this, but true enough, Shorty was born on the first day of grade nine in homeroom music class. Here, both Col (vocals) and Stew (drums) were quickly identified as two of the most chaos-causing misfits ever allowed near musical instruments. The duo followed their fate and joined forces in their battle to create some new noise against the will of conventional music authorities with whom they battled constantly throughout their years at Meadowvale High School.
After graduation, Spencer (guitar) caught the ear of Col while playing a number of his favourite punk riffs on an acoustic guitar during a prom after party. To say the least it sounded good really good. The band was now up to three.
"And even at my finest moment, Im lost, in the stars, without you. Forever means so much, Forever Im in love and Forever I will dream, about you."
Although Mike (Bass) lived nearly two hours away from the rest of the band, distance couldnt prevent fate from throwing in his vibrant thunder. After months of harassing the band in hopes for an audition, Mike was finally brought down to make his debut. The band was surprised to find that Mike had much more to bring to the table than just persistence and devotion his song writing skills were capable of rivalling those of Colin. That makes four.
"So lightning strike, me tonight, I cant carry on. Without her, without her touch, her soft, her lush, I cant carry on."
The final member to join Shorty is the mystery man of the group. Blue (guitar), originating from somewhere off the coast of Madagascar (seriously), arrived to save the band bearing gifts of noise, too hellish to ignore. In fact, it is still unknown as to how Blue first came upon Shorty, but the band seems to be too busy creating chaos with him to care.
"Dont tell me its not worth it, not worth one bit, I know its all worth it, worth every bit."
And so Shorty begins its life, growing uncontrollably and deeply appealing to every broken-hearted rebel, angst filled youth, and advocate of freedom from all parts of the world. With passionate lyrics that bleed through riveting voices, exploding guitar riffs that absolutely shatter the heart, and an earth-shaking rhythm section, Shorty embraces the insatiable style which the world has long been waiting for.
