D. Smitty

Dustin Charles Smith was born on January 28, 1982 to Susie (Aunt Sue) Smith. Dustin and older brother Josh were raised primarily in Clearwater, Florida. Dustin's first glimpse of fame came as a young adolescent with a baby face that landed him in a popular Kit-Kat TV commercial. With a knack for mischief and pushing the limits, Dustin would eventually find his way back to his family's roots in Pittsburgh, PA. It was here where 17 year old Dustin would begin using music and his never overlooked 'Gift of Gab' as an outlet and a source of sanctuary from a life of constant temptation and turmoil. In 1999, he would link up with fellow local artists Jesse James and Enigma--where they would ante-up enough money to pay for studio time at Mindbender Productions. After a few years of legal trouble, parties, temporary jobs, and emotional highs and lows, 'D. Smitty' had already lived the life of a rock star. He was able to gather enough stories from his own life and mold them into his own brand of 'Bi-polar' hip hop. His words can make you cry--but then a smile will form fast enough to catch that tear.On May 5, 2006, the spirit of Dustin Charles Smith was taken from this earth and placed over all of our shoulders. He was more like a James Dean--a man that was never meant to live a long life, for the world may not have been ready for such a special person. A legend in my mind, and everyone who met him.His music was meant to be heard--and for those of us that loved Dustin for his big smile, and his heart of Gold, his voice can now be heard and his persona captured in our minds and hearts forever.And for those of you who never knew Dustin--I introduce to you the next best thing--the unreleased music of D.Smitty.
