About Me

John Lee Hooker said,"The Blues ain’t nothing but a good Man feelin’ bad" But you know, sometimes it’s a "bad" man feelin’ good! First time I heard The Blues was when I heard B.B. King sing and play "Don’t Answer The Door". That struck a chord in my soul , and the rest, as they say, is history. I’ve never been able to or wanted to copy other people, so I had to find my own voice, and today I’m a songwriter, singer and guitarist/slideguitarist, with a strong repertoire of original and standard material. I play solo concerts, playing acoustic guitar featuring Delta slide-blues, and good songs that I like, or with L.P.’s Blues Band playing electric guitar, playing funky, ass-kickin’ Blues’n’Roots music. I’m also involved in other projects, see below. The CD, "True Stories", recorded with my band, (LongLife Records, www.pladekisten.dk), featuring 10 original songs, is available in the stores and on the web, having recieved good reviews, and has so far sold quite well. Before that I had a track on each of the 2 widely acclaimed compilation-cd’s, The Copenhagen Sessions, published by Copenhagen Blues Festival. I’m currently working on a new CD-project with my blues band, which is probably going to include more acoustic-oriented songs, I’ve got a whole lot of different stuff that I’d like to put out, and share some more of my musical universe. In the future I’d like to work with other artists, writing, singing harmonies, playing guitar or whatever... I might also record a solo cd, the Future is open, anything can happen and probably will! The Muddy Waters Jam Band is a band I’ve been involved in for years. We’re a 5- piece band that plays a few gigs every year. It’s like, we get together, play some Chicago Blues standards, and try to resurrect the spirit of this great artist and his fantastic band, jamming, not trying a note-for-note copycat approach, which of course would never work anyway, we have great fun, and people usually like it! The Mojo Kings is a project with the harmonica player and singer Rainy James, grown out of the Thursday Nite Blues Jam at Mojo Blues Bar in Copenhagen, also with a loose structure and great fun, as Rainy is a born entertainer and raconteur with a hilarious stage show. I JUST LOVE JAMMING!

Band Members: The members of my band, L.P.'s Blues Band, are (You can read more about these splendid guys on our band website, www.lpblues.dk):Bass guitar/ double bass: Jørgen NielsenDrums: Thomas Biilmann. Also, on the CD True Stories and at some concerts, the band is augmented with Tenor sax: Niels Mathiasen. And, finally,on keyboards (+ recording, producing "True Stories" and bass guitar on "Out Of My Mind): Claus Sand. On the road, I've had the pleasure of working with various top-keyboardplayers like Dan Hemmer, Peter Lapiki, Henning Verner, Palle Hjort, Kristian Fogh, Svenne Topgaard and Kjeld Lauridsen. A special mention of the piano player Hans Knudsen, who is also a long-time friend of mine. He's a part of the Muddy Waters Jam Band, and he knows how to boogie and how to play "The Real Chicago Blues". Saturday 18. we did a show at Mojo's, with Svenni Svafnisson on bass, Hans Rosenberg on drums and Jørgen Lang on harmonica. Jørgen has been around for years and is one of the greatest harmonica players on the Planet Earth in my opinion! Svenni, one of the funkiest mother''''ers I know, used to play with Kenn Lending and he was. one third of a trio i had a few years back, where we occasionally hired Hans K on the piano. Hans Rosenberg was a new experience for me. What a drummer! It was like we'd played together for years. Check him out here in MySpace...
Influences: Some people say that I play the Blues sounding like I was born in the Mississippi Delta and raised in Chicago. Well, I'm a Danish country-boy that fell in love with The Blues, and that's all there is to it... Very early in my career I had the privilege to play with Champion Jack Dupree and Sunnyland Slim when they visited my hometown, and my main inspiration and influence comes from Afro-American-Caribbean music from Robert Johnson to Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley,( BB, Albert & Freddie King, Robert Johnson, Fred McDowell, Albert Collins, just to mention a few) but people like Mark Knopfler, Freddie Fender, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton (!), among others, are also close to my heart... Bill W and Doctor Bob are my "gurus", even if I know they probably wouldn't want to be...
Sounds Like: I don't try to sound like anybody else, but influences tend to show up here and there...
