About Me

Hey all! I'm Keri (spelt Kerry really but that's showbiz) and I sing, teach, sing, play instruments like keys and strum some guitar which sounds ok if I avoid barchords, sing, gig alot in various setups and love life when its good. Music has been central to my life for as long as I can remember. I guess it started when I began to learn the piano at the early age of 6. Us kids were all given the opportunity to have lessons and were given the option to carry it on or not later on. I loved it so continued with it until College where I carried on with lessons as part of my degree. In my earlier years the piano was not the only instrument I tackled. I was given a guitar for Christmas a couple of years later and set about learning chords and stringing songs together (pun intended!), not only of my own composition but well-known ones as well. In the first year at secondary school I took an interest in the Clarinet and was told that I picked up the basics very quickly. About a year later I was given the chance to broaden my knowledge of the Guitar and learnt to play in a more Classical style. I took up the Saxophone for a very short time, Basically because there were no Sax players at school and we wanted to learn a piece of music in the school band with a part for Sax so I took on the challenge of learning as much as I could in time for the concert.So I went to College. I learnt so much, made great friends, had a blast and drank some incredible Yorkshire Bitter. Although it was great I couldn’t wait to get back to Cornwall. The place has a real charm and magnetism that keeps pulling you back to it. I love it, nowhere else like it in the world. Mind you, the opportunities for music at that time were really limited and so I ended working in retail for a while then on to caring for the Elderly. At this point I met the man who was going to change my life. We formed a band, a 6 piece and played some venues around the County with a slick sound and appearance, too slick maybe because it was soon obvious people were looking for something more relaxed so we gave it to them in another form. We became a 4-piece and worked the circuit for a while, then got our first proper oversees gig for a month. We needed to be a 5-piece so employed an extra person. After this it was back to Cornwall and the drawing board wondering what we would do next. The band then became a 3-piece as the drummer and keys player left. We did loads of local gigs and were doing ok until we decided to give Butlins a try. We got a drummer in so back to a 4-piece and did a Summer Season. We were treated well and enjoyed the experience so we signed up for the following year. Between these two engagements we decided to try cruising but that was not for us. We came back to Cornwall to gig locally until Butlins started again. The second season there required a 5-piece so we got a new drummer and keys player along with the core of the band and did another successful stint. Then back to Cornwall and a long run of local gigs with frequent attempts at getting work overseas. This eventually came to fruition for the 3 of us as we travelled to Cyprus for what started out as a 6 month contract was extended and we were even given the chance to stay on as resident band. This was where our core member and very dear friend decided to stay in Cyprus at the hotel with other musicians. This is when 3 became 2 and Mood Indigo was born. Local gigs were going well but we had a real desire to travel and boy did we travel! Antwerp, Abu Dhabi, Ibiza, Yokohama, Nagoya, all incredible experiences mixed with great music and friends along the way.Now things have changed again. Circumstances are different due to changes in personal situations. I am now a solo artist and a teacher but that’s not all. I work with some of the most talented people in the local music scene doing gigs and in College. I write some music but not as much as I’d like to – same old excuse. TIME! I’m still gigging SO much and am enjoying the different setups I find myself in. I have some dedicated people who come and see me perform when they can and enjoy following the music whether I’m alone or with Rob and Linsay. I still have dreams to accomplish new goals in the future like sing with a Big Band, write an album’s worth of originals and stage a concert showcasing them with the best players as support, do an album of standards with a string quartet as backing, go and see LOADS of live acts, both famous or even unsigned, and the biggest goal of all is to find true love, peace and general harmony in my life and all those around me.Thank you to all the players who have been a help and inspiration to me so far in my endeavours to play and sing songs and music to an audience and make them feel good and be moved to a greater emotion. You know who you are and who will be.Check out my website for news and updates on gigs and hear some more from my collection of material and arrangements. Thanks for stopping by.{}

Come see the CD collection. Any music that has heart, soul, melody, and a good feel.
Sounds Like: My voice has been compared to many artists, even Nana Mouskouri but dont let that put you of. Im trying really hard to get some stuff on here so you can all hear it. I like to think of my voice as strong and pretty versatile. The range aint bad for a 40+ year old with many late nights and alcohol fuelled evenings under her belt. Its over 2 octaves on a good night with the wind behind me! The material I write alone is always from the heart, not always autobiographical but it means something to those who know me and for those who dont, maybe they can relate to some of it. I've collaborated on some songs with different artists and I love this way of working cos everybody conjures up various ideas and emotions that can be put into a melody or lyrics and it produces little bits of each person's input. It's so cool that way. Love to do it again with some more musos. Any suggestions? I hope you find something that strikes a chord!
