Yes, I Am Toast!

About Me

When I came to Nashville, someone tried to tell to concentrate on one jenre' of music and be the best at that. My answer was, "What fool in his right mind limits his potential from the start?". Every song has a story. As the songs you hear rotate, check out the bio for each song in this section. Get to know your toast, don't just consume it.
A Songcrafter for over thirty years, Doug Henry, or "Toast" has accumulated a catalog of material ranging from Blues, Country, Comedy, Jazz, So.Rock, Americana and Christian songs. "My influences along the way have been a large slice of America. A child of the sixties, I was raised by a vocal instructor and a mailman (Dad was really a 'jack of all trades'), so music was my passion, and the ethic of work-a-day life rubbed off from Dad". Now living in the Nashville, Toast is working to secure a co-publishing contract with a major agency. "As an independent publisher with ASCAP, it's still my desire to let administrators do what they do and I'll just go on continuing to be the best songwriter I can be."

Influences: I love almost everything. Classic music from every era just really turns me on. O.K. just to name a few, Mel Torme, Bob Wills, Dave Mason, Phil Keaggy, Jimi Hendrix, Paul Simon, Jim Croce, VanMorrison, Jimmy Buffet, George Jones, Al Hirt, Bob James, Stanley Clarke, The Temptations, Ronnie Laws, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Pete Seger, Tom Paxton, Jimmie Rodgers, Shel Silverstien, The Vanzandt Clan.

But now that I'm here in Nashville, let me tell you who influences me, John Long, Grant ('boutright) Boatright, Boomer Castleman, Tony Lane, Bill Holmes, Rick Klang, Jimmy Payne, Mack Elliot, Doug Wooley, Ed Coffee, Danny Simmons (Rest Well My Friend) and then the tens of thousand struggling songwriters who deserve more than they receive. You may not know any of the last group of names, and the full list would be endless, but, you ougtta know 'em all. undefined undefined
Sounds Like: 'TOAST' As a 30+ year songwriting veteran, I have learned over the years to take each moment and run with the idea. In other words, each moment has never been linked to any specific jenre' of music. The influences I list evidence the variety of musical interests I have. My thanks to all my influences, family and friends for their never ending aid in helping me create the portraits of my life for all the world to see. Background By UltimateMyspace
