Liam Hendrix-Heath was born on the 9th of March 1992 in London. He comes from an extremely musical background, his mother Angela Tunstall singing lead soprano for the late Karlheinz Stockhausen, and his father, a well-known composer David Heath, working alongside many big names such as Nigel Kennedy, Evelyn Glennie, James Galway, William Orbit and Sting to name a few. His grandmother was the great opera star Monica Sinclair who sung with such names as Maria Callas and Pavarotti, and his grandfather was Tony Tunstall, a French horn player who was legend within the English music circle.
Liam has already done a fair share of working with big names, like John Patitucci, the great jazz bassist, with whom he recorded a well-acclaimed disc.
The trail begun for Liam when he first read Miles Davis' autobiography at nine years old, after he had begged his father for a trumpet a year previously. One year later, at ten years old, Liam was accepted into Tommy Smith's Youth Jazz Orchestra with an age range up to 25. Smith has been one of Liam's main mentors ever since. Liam also begun lessons with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra's prinicipal trumpet player, Peter Franks whilst he was still living in Scotland. After 9 years of living in Edinburgh (1996-2005) Liam was awarded a scholarship to study at the Purcell School of Music in Hertfordshire, just north of his hometown of Camden, where he still currently studies with trumpet player Steve Waterman and pianist Simon Colam. He has plans to continue studying abroad in the US within the next few years.
