I thought it was time for a new look.I am a multimedia artist/graphic designer, just finishing my degree and looking for a fresh, exciting career in that field. For now I work as a restaurant manager to pay the bills and do freelance work as it comes up. I never lose my keys and almost always remember birthdays and even trivial events that happened years ago. I'm an artist so my cognitive patterns defy simple linear logic. I take ideas as they come, which is why I always have a pen and paper with me. And a camera. Everywhere I go. Always. I believe that love is the greatest power in the universe and can bridge distances between people, families, cultures...even nations. I am unabashedly hipster in my tastes and lifestyles, from the pretentious public-radio indie rock I prefer, to my tastes in fashion, culture, furnishings, and even my taste in cars. I think the Mini Cooper is about the coolest car ever invented. Many of my friends are taller than me, so if (read: WHEN) I get a Mini, some may not be as excited as I will be. I am a Roman Catholic and if you don't like it...well...too bad. Politically, I guess I lean to the right, which is not typical of hipsters, nor is it typical for a hipster to be a devout Catholic, so maybe I'm not exactly a true hipster. But my ideal life would be an urban loft with a music/art studio set up in one room (a crucifix on the wall, of course), a Mini in my garage and an iPod loaded with cutting edge indie music of sundry kinds as well as some old-shcool Stevie Wonder and Al Green, and maybe a hair band or two--you know, just for the irony.Slower traffic please keep right.I will not use myspace as a forum for my political ideologies. If you want to, fine. By the same token, I will not apologize or be tentative in my convictions. Religious, political, or otherwise. My Catholic faith permeates every aspect of my life, so the occasional blog may have some Spiritual undertones, but I will never preach. If I do, please call me on it, because my intention is not to use myspace for that, either. But don't get argumentative either, if I express my personal convictions. I never said, nor will ever say, that you have to do the same. The more I live, the more I appreciate life. I get discouraged that other people my age seem to lose that and become jaded and cynical somewhere along the line. My close friends are exceptions. That's why they're my close friends. That is also why, close friends excluded, most of my casual friends and acquaintances are younger than I. Younger people seem to think I'm cool. Most people my age just think I'm ridiculous, and not in a good way. There's a difference between childish and child-like. Look it up. I think YOU'RE silly.I am a musician and love playing guitar and bass as well as singing and writing songs. I don't do enough of it lately, but I don't much of anything but work and go to school right now and won't until I graduate in March. If you're interested, look up my music profile at http://www.myspace.com/thekhakis, or find it in my friends and click on it there.Life's too short to hate or to harbor grudges.Freedom is not about doing what you want when you want. As a culture we have the concept of freedom backwards, I believe. If you won't or can't live with some semblance of restraint, that's not freedom at all. My friends, that is slavery.
