About Me
While in NYC mixing a record with renowned mixer Michael Brauer, what started out as a hobby soon became a way of life. Having worked on a 4-track recorder for years, I took what I learned from some of the great people I've met in this industry and never looked back. Being a musician has certainly helped me coax, entice, torment, encourage and produce other fellow musicians and artists, in and out of the studio. Ralph began playing left-handed guitar at 15. He eventually moved to Atlanta, GA to play with a band he met in Houston, TX. He soon landed a day gig with a great luthier at a guitar repair shop and learned to refret guitars and worked on stringed instruments for R.E.M., Steve Morse of The Dixie Dregs, Bob Shane of The Kingston Trio and others. His skills as a guitar technician landed him a position as a tech for the Santa Cruz based band, The Call/MCA Records. Ralph eventually became a member of the band and toured performing guitar and occasional bass duties. During this time he also co-wrote and performed a movie soundtrack with The Call's leader, Michael Been for a Paul Schrader film and also recorded an album as a guitarist/associate producer with the band on Quincy Jones' Qwest/Reprise label. After doing sessions as a guitarist in a downtown SF studio he was referred to Bob Green, leader of the acid-jazz ensemble, "The Grassy Knoll". Ralph joined this eclectic group and toured the States with them in support of the release of their album, "Positive" on Polygram's Verve label. After relocating to the San Francisco area he landed a gig at Prairie Sun Recording where he made the transition into professional recording on Prairie Sun's vintage custom-made Neve desk formerly owned by Pete Townsend of The Who. He recently earned a Double Platinum award for his mixing work on Jamie Foxx's "Unpredictable" also nominated for 4 Grammys, remixed the Megadeth catalog for Capitol Records, mixed an album with Tim Alexander/Primus/Fata Morgana, mixed a single for Peter Murphy/Bauhaus for the upcoming movie "Catacombs" by the producers of "Saw". Currently mixing album cuts for Brian "Head" Welch ex-KoRn...and continues to work with local and national talent...see more credits @ allmusic.com...........MORE TO COME......................
