Greg Earl Band

About Me

The Greg Earl Band is a blues band. They are building a reputation around the Northwest for playing their own brand of contemporary blues. In an area with so many talented blues artists and acts, that alone is a lofty goal. That’s why Greg is happy to have such great musicians to play with.
When Greg Earl arrived in Portland in the summer of 2004, he decided to really check out the music scene before trying to put together a band. There were so many great players and so many tight bands, he wanted to get a feel for the scene as a whole. He is deep into blues, coming to Portland from the Baltimore/DC blues scene, so he joined a hard working blues band and did fill-in dates for several more. Now, he’s ready to show the world who he’s found to play his blues.
Guitarist, Edwin Fountaine is a bit of a legend in the Portland area, having performed with most of the Who’s Who in the region, such as Kenny G, Curtis Salgado, Jeff Lorber, Ron Steen, and Mel Brown. Nationally, Edwin has worked with the likes of Herbie Hancock, Carmen McRea, Sonny Stitt, John Lee Hooker, and others. “Edwin is one of the most energetic and compelling performers I have ever worked with—and he’s an amazing soloist,” says Greg. Edwin can be seen weekly as guitarist for New Thought Ministries of Oregon. And, as leader of Sumo Band (http://www.sumoband.com/) Edwin performs a mix of old school R & B and rock. Edwin brings a funk and jazz sound to the Greg Earl Band’s mix of contemporary Blues.
Keyboardist, Brian Harris, a Northwest native, arrived in Portland in 1997 and played keyboard for Body & Soul before joining Shag, Ben Fowler’s soul/jazz project. Since then, Brian has produced an original soul/jazz CD "All The Love, All The Time" and a solo piano disc, "Mountain, Mountain," and the soon to be released solo cd, "New Eyed Soul." As a hired gun, he’s lent his funky artistry to a variety of artists, including Norman Sylvester, Patrick Lamb and Kenny Loggins. Brian performs regularly with Julianne Johnson and Ambrosia, and can be seen weekly at the piano for New Thought Ministries of Oregon. He now brings his intuitive, soulful touch and strong tenor voice to the Greg Earl Band.
Drummer, John Andrade, a native of Providence, RI, moved to the Northwest in 2005. Since his arrival, John has played with such local notables as Lloyd Jones Struggle, Rick Welter, and The Wayne Foster Entertainment Group (LA), as well as laying down the groove for assorted recording projects. Combining the raw energy of Rock-n-Roll with the funky grooves of R&B, John was on the Guess Who touring bill in the early 90's with Geffen recording artist, The Cool Fools. He also performed live and in the studio for the next few years with such notables as James Montgomery, John Cafferty and J. Geils & Magic Dick Band. John is also co-founder of the Providence, RI-based, DJ Lauria Band, a featured band at the Philadelphia Music Conference and winners of Billboard’s "best new songwriter" contest. MYFLYPROFILE.NET
